 A little bit of history...

Ibiza’s history starts in 1600B.C. An island colonised by the Phoenicians in the 8th Century B.C. EBUSUS founded in 654B.C. by the Carthaginians. There followed a succession of invasions by multiple civilisations; Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Moors. The insecurity of this strategic island was such that its population built fortified churches and towers all along the coast.
The island of Ibiza stretches over 48kms. And has two mountain ranges with the highest point being the Atalaya of San José, at 476m. The greenery of this fertile island with its characteristic red soil is predominantly Mediterranean pine tree. The plains are covered with ancient almond trees, carob trees and fig trees that captivate your sight.
The South of the island has since ancient times been divided by salt-plans called Las Salinas, today forming a beautiful landscape reaching one of the most popular white sandy beaches of Ibiza.
The island is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, recognised for its arquitecture, coastline and sea life. Rising up on a hill overlooking a wide bay is Dalt Villa one of the most picturesque towns in the whole of the Mediterranean, surrounded by sturdy stonewalls built in the XVIth century. The Cathedral, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Church of Santo Domingo are some of the noble residences worth visiting.
